Role: Teacher of Religious Education (KS3KS5)

Location: Borehamwood Hertfordshire

Contract: Full-Time Maternity Cover

Start Date: January 2027

Salary: Main Pay Scale / Upper Pay Scale depending on experience

A Catholic secondary school in Borehamwood is looking for a dedicated Religious Education Teacher to cover a maternity absence from January 2027. The successful candidate will support students in developing their understanding of religion belief ethics and the schools faith-based values.

The Role
  • Teach Religious Education: Deliver lessons across KS3 GCSE and sixth form where appropriate.

  • Prepare students for examinations: Support GCSE and A-Level students with structured revision and assessment.

  • Develop religious literacy: Teach a broad range of religious traditions beliefs and ethical viewpoints.

  • Promote respectful discussion: Encourage thoughtful debate and independent reflection.

  • Plan differentiated lessons: Adapt resources to support students with different abilities.

  • Contribute to school life: Participate in assemblies enrichment and wider pastoral activities.

The Candidate
  • RE specialist: Has strong knowledge of Religious Education theology and ethics.

  • Qualified teacher: Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised qualification.

  • Respectful communicator: Can lead balanced discussions on sensitive topics.

  • Strong planner: Produces clear lessons with suitable challenge and support.

  • Team focused: Works effectively with the RE department and wider staff.
