Job Overview
English plays a prominent role in this schools academic identity. The successful applicant will deliver engaging English Language and English Literature lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE) with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level English Literature or Language & Literature delivery.
Working closely with the English department you will guide pupils through prose poetry modern drama and Shakespearean texts while developing structured essay responses and creative writing techniques. This is a full-time ongoing or permanent role.
Key Responsibilities
Teach engaging and analytical English lessons across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
Guide GCSE and A-Level pupils through textual analysis comparative essays and written exam preparation
Utilize contemporary media theatrical recordings and digital learning suites to enhance text studies
Assess track and report on student progress across analytical essays and formal examinations
Support extra-curricular literary initiatives including debate clubs creative writing workshops and theater trips
Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor supporting student wellbeing and personal development

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)
Honors degree in English Literature English Language Creative Writing or a closely related discipline
Proven track record (or clear potential during training) for delivering strong GCSE/A-Level English outcomes
Deep textual subject knowledge and strong essay-mentoring capabilities
An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
