About The Role

The Systems Engineer will join EGs Systems Infrastructure team whichis responsible forall layers of technology in our environment from networking to servers and application services and will report to theLondonHead of Infrastructure. The firms infrastructure is built using modern technologies with a focus on creating robust reusable components and the strategic use of automation. As a flat team all members have exposure to andare responsible for the design implementation operation and support of our environment.

The Systems Engineer will initially focus on day-to-day system administration and supporting end-user systems with the opportunity to grow into other areas of our systems infrastructure over timeultimately managinglarge projects independently. The ideal candidate willdemonstratetechnical aptitude in areastheyveworked in previously along with the ability to think systemically and reason through problems theyhaventyetencountered. While new team members will receive support and mentorship from the rest of the team they will also be expected to conduct independent research and propose both solutions to emerging problems and improvements to current processes.

This job provides exposure to:

• Configuration management tools such as Ansible andinfrastructuremanagement tools such as Terraform
• Containerized workloads using technologies such as AWS ECS and Batch
• Heavy use of cloud-managed services (DBaaSlaaS etc.) to offload undifferentiated maintenance work from the team
• Databases of various shapes and sizes including relational databases columnar databases NoSQLetc
• User-facing systems in various shapes and sizes (Windows Macs Linux endpoints physical and virtual)
• A SaaS-heavy corporateenvironmentthat favors flexibility and agility over legacyon-premisetechnologies
• Cloud-nativevideo-conferencingand phonesystems
• Various storage technologies including object storage file share systems and cloud-based platforms such asSharePoint

RequiredQualificationsand Experience

• Undergraduate degree in CS EE or related field
• 1-5 years professional experience in technology related field
• Excellentcommunication skills
• Able to manage projectsindependently
• Able to learn new platforms andtechnologiesquickly
• Linux server administration
• Scripting/programming (Python BashPowershell etc.)
• Public cloud experience (particularly AWS)

Desirable Experience

• Windows and Active Directory administration
• Desktop support across multiple operating systems Windows Mac and Linux
• Security and compliance controls (endpoint security firewalls etc.)
• Mobile device management controls (MDM MAM)
• Videoconference and phone systems
• Email system administration and support
• Database administration
• Financial industry experience
