Attendance matters.

When students attend arrive on time and stay engaged they give themselves the best chance of success. When things start to slip the right contact at the right time can make a real difference.

As our Student Liaison Officer youll be part of the Head of Studies team supporting students to improve attendance punctuality and engagement.

Youll monitor daily attendance follow up absences and work with students parents carers and colleagues to address barriers to learning. Youll use college systems and data to spot patterns track actions and support timely intervention.

This is is a role for someone who is organised confident and proactive. Youll need to communicate clearly manage competing priorities and keep accurate records. Youll also need to understand that attendance work is not just about chasing absence. It is about helping students build routines access support and stay connected to college.

What youll do

  • Monitor daily attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow up absences quickly and appropriately.
  • Contact students parents and carers to support attendance and engagement.
  • Work with students to understand and address barriers to learning.
  • Use college systems to record contact actions and outcomes accurately.
  • Track patterns in attendance punctuality and engagement.
  • Provide updates and reports to the Head of Studies and relevant colleagues.
  • Work with Personal Tutors Heads of Department Student Services and curriculum teams.
  • Refer students to internal or external support services where appropriate.
  • Contribute to safeguarding processes and escalate concerns promptly.
  • Support learner voice engagement activity and continuous improvement where required.

What youll bring

  • GCSE English and maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent.
  • Level 2 Business Administration qualification or equivalent or willingness to achieve this within probation.
  • Experience in education administration student support customer service or a similar environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Good organisation and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Confidence using systems reports and data to manage work.
  • The ability to follow procedures and implement agreed actions.
  • A proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Experience working with young people students parents or carers would be helpful.
  • Experience supporting attendance engagement or wellbeing would be an advantage.
