We are recruitingfor a Storage Point Scientist to join our Quality Environment and Assurance team! You will ensure that theoptimumquality of water is produced from our storage points and that risks to this are mitigatedahead of time.Focusing on quality source to source through a mixture of onsite work and using the data we have for our sites you will be continually lookingat getting theoptimumquality of wholesome water out for our customers.

Youllwork alongside Operational colleaguesand provide scientific understandingwhilst effectively challengingour storage point processes to safely store wholesome water.During reactive eventsyoulluse your scientific knowledge and appreciation of action impactstosuccessfully and safely navigate them.Youllimplementthese actions to any water quality deteriorations so that understandingof the impact downstream can be gained.

To deliver our water quality action plan process you will deliver the company Drinking Water Safety Planning (DWSP) approach and day to day updating ofthe DWSP Risk Portal.

Youlleffectively manage your time balancing time on site and in the office to provide the outcomes needed for the business.Youllwork from sitewith colleagues4 days per week. You will be part of an out of hours standby process for the business.

Key responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive onsite water quality investigations following proactive or preventative triggers and ensure that water quality action plansinputting of information into the DWSP Risk Portal and preparation ofregulatoryreports are prepared as

  • Support drinking water quality aspects of reporting associated with storage point legal instruments

  • Deliver the scientific aspects of storage point maintenance programmes such as the storage point cleaning programme

  • Activelyseekto optimise our assets to provide effective andoptimumstorage of water

  • Be the key point of contact for local operational teams for water quality risk assessment including contribution to and signoff ofImpact Plans andmanagement of approval of materials in contact with water as part of Operational scheme delivery

  • Provide out of hours Process scientific standby cover being able toprovidescientific advice on any asset or area of the company

  • Be working towards chartership and/or a Continuous Professional Development programme

  • Educated to a degree level in relevant scientific subjector equivalent

  • Able to critically evaluate information to take tactical action

  • Excellent data interpretation skills

  • Interpersonal skills to build rapport with operational colleagues whilst being able to communicate actionseffectively

  • Able to mentor those around you to improve their skills and understanding of water processes

  • Able to influence those around you in making positive decisions to protect wholesomeness of our water
