We are recruiting on behalf of an established food manufacturing business in North Lanarkshire that supplies products into the UK food industry. Operating within a fast-paced FMCG environment the business is looking to appoint an experienced Stock Controller to take ownership of stock accuracy purchasing and supplier coordination across its manufacturing operation.

This is a varied position combining approximately 80% desk-based stock control and administration with 20% physical stock counting and stock management.

The Role

As Stock Controller you will be responsible for effectively controlling stock movements purchasing and associated processes ensuring accurate stock records and appropriate availability levels are maintained.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing stock held both on and off site including physical stock counts and maintaining accurate information within the stock management system.
  • Ordering packaging and ingredients from approved suppliers.
  • Monitoring stock availability and maintaining a strong understanding of stock locations.
  • Reviewing and signing off invoices investigating and challenging discrepancies where required.
  • Acting as a key point of contact for suppliers including resolving supply issues and supporting technical compliance requirements.
  • Overseeing stock storage and ensuring appropriate technical standards are maintained.
  • Investigating stock discrepancies identifying root causes and communicating findings to relevant teams.
  • Working alongside Product Development to source new ingredients and packaging.
  • Participating in cross-functional and interdepartmental meetings.
  • Supporting internal and external customer audits.
  • Maintaining appropriate health & safety standards.
  • Identifying and implementing improvements to stock management processes and overall stock accuracy.

About You

We are looking for someone who is organised dependable and comfortable taking ownership of stock within a busy manufacturing environment.

You should have:

  • Previous experience within stock control inventory purchasing or a closely related position.
  • Experience withinFMCG food manufacturing or another fast-paced manufacturing environmentwould be advantageous.
  • A good understanding of internal and external supply chains.
  • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Good organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Confidence communicating with suppliers and colleagues across different departments.
  • Good PC skills including Excel.
  • A proactive self-motivated approach to your work.
  • The ability to investigate problems and see them through to resolution.
