Station Youth Worker Airplay

One YMCA and its subsidiary the Early Childhood Partnership (ECP) deliver a wide range of services across Hertfordshire Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire including social housing sports health and wellbeing programmes childrens services youth work and community activities. We are passionate about creating positive change within local communities and work closely with a range of partners to improve the lives of children young people and families.

Our youth and community services encompass a diverse range of provision including centre-based youth work outreach projects mentoring and mobile youth services. We are committed to supporting young people throughout their development enabling them to access opportunities and progress across our various programmes and specialisms.

About Airplay
One YMCA is proud to be the lead organisation for Airplay the RAF Benevolent Funds flagship youth support programme for children and young people from RAF families. Delivered through a partnership of eight YMCAs and in collaboration with the RAF People and Families Team Airplay provides vital support to children and young people who may experience the unique challenges associated with military family life.

The programme includes:
Airplay Youth Clubs for young people aged 8 years and above
Ben Clubs for children aged 58 years
An engaging online programme connecting young people across the wider RAF community

Airplay aims to provide access to high-quality facilities exciting activities trusted youth workers and a sense of continuity and belonging particularly when families relocate between RAF stations.

The Role:
Reporting to the Airplay Programme Coordinator the Station Youth Worker will be responsible for the planning coordination and delivery of a varied programme of youth work activities for children and young people aged 518 years in line with the Airplay Handbook and programme standards.

You will deliver both centre-based and outreach youth work creating safe inclusive and engaging environments where young people can develop confidence build relationships and reach their full potential.

The role will involve:
Delivering high-quality youth work sessions for children and young people aged 518 years
Planning and coordinating engaging activities projects events and programmes
Building positive relationships with young people families RAF personnel and partner organisations
Supporting young peoples personal social and emotional development Ensuring activities are delivered safely and in accordance with safeguarding and health and safety requirements
Maintaining accurate records and contributing to programme monitoring and evaluation
Promoting inclusion participation and youth voice across all activities
Working Pattern

This role requires flexibility and will include:
Regular evening youth work sessions
Occasional weekend working
Daytime activities during school holidays

One YMCA and its subsidiaries the Early Childhood Partnership (ECP) and Signpost are on an exciting journey to double our impact by 2025. We are over half way through an exciting new strategy launched in the first hour of the new decade via email where all staff and volunteers were invited to put themselves forward to apply and attend an intensive three-day Kickstarter Event.

By the end of these three days there was a brilliantly multi-faceted set of themes and ideas which formed the starting point for the rest of the Mission 25 process to build on. The aim of Mission 25 is to give every staff member and volunteer the opportunity to play their part in shaping the strategy to do more and better together so that we double our impact by 2025. We deliver a vast array of services across Herts Beds and Bucks that reach over 135000 individuals annually.

• Provision of over 700 units of accommodation for homeless people
• Move on accommodation for individuals moving onto independent living
• Housing and practical/emotional support for young asylum seekers
• Community HUBs hosting a range of activities and meeting space hire
• Childcare provision in Hertfordshire
• Family support through a network of childrens and family centres covering Hertfordshire and Bedford
• Therapeutic and non-therapeutic support for male and female victims of domestic abuse and their children
• Independent sexual violence services across Bedfordshire Luton and Hertfordshire
• Domestic abuse perpetrator reform programmes across Bedfordshire
• Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund
