Job Summary
You will join a team which:
Enables EV charging infrastructure implementation through electrical design definition and review
Develops grid infrastructure standards spanning high-voltage up to 24 kV (HV) and low-voltage (LV) systems ensuring a coordinated and resilient approach to grid design
Explores emerging technologies to address evolving sustainability needs with emphasis on smart grid integration efficiency and resilience
Drives end-to-end deployment of EV chargers and other sustainability technologies across European sites
Defines processes for procurement and maintenance of electrical and sustainability infrastructure
Owns cost budgeting forecasting and tracking across sustainability programmes
Possible locations for this role: Luxembourg London Munich Milan Madrid and Barcelona

Key job responsibilities
Own and develop electrical equipment standards including standard designs for core electrical infrastructure in partnership with manufacturers and internal stakeholders
Perform design validation and review to ensure compliance with established electrical standards during installation and commissioning of infrastructure
Act as subject matter expert (SME) for LV and HV (up to 24kV) electrical systems
Align stakeholder expectations and define technical requirements for EV charging network infrastructure and smart grid deployments
Drive the technology roadmap for electrical infrastructure including EV chargers substations energy efficiency solutions and IoT technologies (e.g. smart metres)
Develop business cases and present recommendations to leadership to secure approval for programme scoping and investment decisions
Coordinate with programme managers to ensure quality and standards compliance across large-scale installations
Drive process improvement across commissioning audit value engineering and cost control activities
A day in the life
Your day could include engagement with all levels of the organisation and multiple stakeholder groups to drive short- mid- and long-term technical decisions with large-scale impact across the Amazon network. You will also work with partners from Operations Reliability & Maintenance Health and Safety Global Fleet Product Finance Procurement and external vendors to design and deploy electrical infrastructure across Amazons operational sites in Europe.
About the team
The Sustainability Engineering team drives the execution and deployment of EV charging infrastructure grid connections and smart grid solutions across Amazons European sites. We manage supply chain procurement and maintenance activities and define the processes that ensure consistent scalable delivery. To enable this the team develops and continuously improves electrical standards and technologies that underpin reliable compliant deployment at pace. We power Amazons sustainable growth through operational excellence and continuous innovation.
- Experience developing or delivering training programs across multiple sites or regions or experience with technical writing
- Masters degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field with experience in electrical infrastructure design standards development or large-scale electrical systems implementation
- Demonstrated knowledge of HV and/or LV electrical distribution systems (up to 24kV) and applicable standards
- Experience in technical program and product management technical development or related roles in the industrial EV charging solutions sector
- Proficiency in one or more European languages (in addition to English)
- Experience working with public grid operators or Distribution System Operators (DSOs)
- Working knowledge of national grid codes and DSO requirements in one or more EU/UK markets
- Experience with protection coordination fault level analysis or power systems modelling
- Chartered Electrical Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional registration
