Castle Hill Infant and Junior Schools are looking for a Speech and Language Teaching Assistant KS2.

We are seeking an experienced motivated and committed Speech and Language Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated intervention team this this dynamic role you will assess and empower Key Stage 2 (KS2) pupils with English as an Additional Language (EAL) as well as those with speech language and communication needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • EAL Assessment and Support: evaluate the needs of EAL pupils and deliver targeted interventions to develop their language skills

  • Speech and Language Interventions: provide tailored support to KS2 children to improve their confidence speech and communication

  • Progress Tracking: work closely with the intervention team to monitor pupil progress and ensure full access to the curriculum.

Requirements:

  • Essential: proven prior experience in a similar EAL or Speech and Language support role with KS2 children.

You will be:

  • consistently good / outstanding S and L assistant

  • flexible and can use your own initiative understanding a range of duties

  • able to work independently and as part of a team

  • resilient hardworking and self-motivated

  • able to adapt to suit the needs of individual learners

  • able to manage change well and support children in a variety of situations.

You will:

  • be required to assess and support EAL pupils

  • be a team player who is solution focused patient and caring

  • have the ability to think on your feet and use your own initiative

  • have a good knowledge of or be prepared to learn about sensory strategies and how to use these to support children to self-regulate or be willing to learn.

  • have an understanding of different communication methods

  • provide support for children by implementing an effective range of learning strategies to ensure outstanding learning outcomes for all students

  • work closely with the class teacher.

This post will be reporting directly to our Assistant SENCo Lauren Read and will be based at Castle Hill.
