Job Summary
Our client based in Southampton is seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Social Worker to join theirLearning Disabilities and Neurodiversity Team in Southampton. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy excellent assessment and recording skills and the ability to manage complex and high-risk situations within a busy adult social care setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with learning disabilities and neurodiverse needs delivering person-centred evidence-based interventions that promote independence wellbeing and positive outcomes.
What will your responsibilities be
In this role you will:
- UndertakingCare Act 2014 assessmentsand reviews in line with statutory responsibilities.
- Leading onSection 42 Safeguarding Enquiries ensuring robust timely and proportionate responses.
- CompletingMental Capacity Assessments (MCA)with strong evidence-based practice and confidently leadingBest Interest decisions.
- Developingstrengths-based care and support plansfocused on promoting independence and reducing long-term care needs.
- Managing adedicated caseload of adults with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions including those with complex needs.
- Conductinglone working home visitsand engaging effectively with service users families and carers.
- Working collaboratively within amulti-disciplinary frameworkincluding health professionals providers and partner agencies.
- Maintainingaccurate timely and high-quality case recordsin line with statutory and organisational requirements.
- Responding calmly and effectively to high-risk and high-demand situations.
Qualifications & Experience
- MA BA BSc in Social Work Diploma in Social Work or CQSW
- Must be registered with Social Work England
- Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience including completion of ASYE
- Demonstrable experience working with learning disabilities and/or neurodiverse individuals
- Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
- Experience in safeguarding Best Interest decisions and statutory duties
- Excellent assessment analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills
- Strong time management and organisational abilities
- High standard of written recording and documentation
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to undertake lone working visits confidently
- Willingness to be office-based at least one day per week
- Full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable
Contract Details
- Hours:37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
- Duration:3-month initial contract
- Working Pattern:Hybrid working with a requirement to attend the office a minimum of one day per week
