Social Worker – Learning Disabilities

Our client based in Southampton is seeking an experienced and skilled Adult Social Worker to join theirLearning Disabilities and Neurodiversity Team in Southampton. This role requires a confident practitioner with strong legal literacy excellent assessment and recording skills and the ability to manage complex and high-risk situations within a busy adult social care setting.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with individuals with learning disabilities and neurodiverse needs delivering person-centred evidence-based interventions that promote independence wellbeing and positive outcomes.

What will your responsibilities be

In this role you will:

• UndertakingCare Act 2014 assessmentsand reviews in line with statutory responsibilities.
• Leading onSection 42 Safeguarding Enquiries ensuring robust timely and proportionate responses.
• CompletingMental Capacity Assessments (MCA)with strong evidence-based practice and confidently leadingBest Interest decisions.
• Developingstrengths-based care and support plansfocused on promoting independence and reducing long-term care needs.
• Managing adedicated caseload of adults with learning disabilities and neurodiverse conditions including those with complex needs.
• Conductinglone working home visitsand engaging effectively with service users families and carers.
• Working collaboratively within amulti-disciplinary frameworkincluding health professionals providers and partner agencies.
• Maintainingaccurate timely and high-quality case recordsin line with statutory and organisational requirements.
• Responding calmly and effectively to high-risk and high-demand situations.

Qualifications & Experience

• MA BA BSc in Social Work Diploma in Social Work or CQSW
• Must be registered with Social Work England
• Minimum 2 years post-qualified experience including completion of ASYE
• Demonstrable experience working with learning disabilities and/or neurodiverse individuals
• Strong understanding of the Care Act 2014 and Mental Capacity Act 2005
• Experience in safeguarding Best Interest decisions and statutory duties
• Excellent assessment analytical and evidence-based decision-making skills
• Strong time management and organisational abilities
• High standard of written recording and documentation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to undertake lone working visits confidently
• Willingness to be office-based at least one day per week
• Full UK driving licence and access to a car is desirable

Contract Details

• Hours:37 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
• Duration:3-month initial contract
• Working Pattern:Hybrid working with a requirement to attend the office a minimum of one day per week
