About the Role

We are seeking a reliable proactive and multi-skilled School Site Manager to take ownership of the safety security and day-to-day operation of a secondary school campus in Potters Bar.

This is a vital hands-on role within the school community ideal for an experienced caretaker or facilities professional who takes pride in maintaining an exceptional environment for students and staff. The school is looking to fill this vacancy as soon as possible so candidates who are available immediately or on short notice are highly encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilities & Maintenance: Oversee the security care and general upkeep of the school buildings and grounds including carrying out first-line maintenance and minor repairs.

  • Health & Safety: Maintain rigorous health and safety standards managing compliance records fire safety checks water testing and risk assessments.

  • Contractor Management: Serve as the main point of contact for external contractors ensuring work is completed safely efficiently and to a high standard.

  • Team Leadership: Support and manage the site/cleaning teams to ensure the campus remains pristine and welcoming.

  • Security: Act as a primary keyholder managing the opening and closing of the school as well as responding to out-of-hours emergencies if required.

What We Are Looking For:
  • Proven experience in site management facilities maintenance or a skilled trade (experience within an educational setting is highly desirable but not essential).

  • Strong working knowledge of health and safety legislation COSHH and building compliance.

  • A proactive problem-solver who can manage a varied workload and respond calmly to shifting priorities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with school leadership staff and external visitors.

  • A commitment to safeguarding; the successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
