Job Summary

A thriving primary school in Chelmsford is looking to appoint a Site Manager to join the team from September 2026.

This is a full-time permanent opportunity for an experienced premises professional who enjoys taking ownership of a busy school site. Working alongside the School Business Manager and leadership team youll help ensure the school remains a safe secure and welcoming environment for pupils staff and visitors.

The Role

The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day management of the school premises ensuring the site is maintained to a high standard and fully compliant with health and safety requirements.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operation of the school site

  • Carrying out planned maintenance and minor repairs

  • Coordinating contractors and monitoring completed works

  • Ensuring health and safety checks are completed and recorded

  • Opening and securing the school buildings

  • Supervising cleaning and premises staff where required

  • Monitoring site security and responding to maintenance requests

  • Supporting school events and lettings outside normal school hours when needed

The Successful Candidate

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Site Manager Premises Manager Facilities Manager Estates Supervisor or Senior Caretaker.

The school is looking for someone with strong organisational skills a practical approach to maintenance and a good understanding of health and safety responsibilities. The ability to prioritise workloads and build positive relationships with staff and contractors is essential.
