AtkinsRéalis is at the forefront of some of the UKs most significant dam reservoir and hydraulic structures projects helping clients manage ageing assets improve resilience deliver nationally important new reservoirs and address the challenges of climate change.

We are looking for an experienced Senior or Principal Dams and Reservoirs Engineer to join our growing Dams Reservoirs & Hydraulic Structures discipline within our Design & Advanced Technology (D&AT) Practice. This is an opportunity to take a key role in solving complex technical challenges contributing to some of the UKs highest-profile reservoir safety and water resource projects such as Lincolnshire Fens Broad Oak and Havant Thicket reservoirs.

Youll have the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant water resource energy and reservoir safety projects including new strategic reservoir developments reservoir safety improvement works dam risk and asset management programmes and hydraulic structures projects for major UK clients including Thames Water South East Water Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Drax Power SSE and the Environment Agency.

This role offers the opportunity to influence major technical decisions shape industry-leading solutions to some of the sectors most complex dam reservoir safety and hydraulic structures challenges. Youll join one of the UKs leading dams and reservoir engineering teams bringing together expertise in dam engineering reservoir safety hydraulics geotechnics civil engineering asset management and risk assessment.

As a key member of our team youll help address some of the industrys most challenging reservoir safety dam engineering and hydraulic structures challenges integrating your growing skills with a range of specialist disciplines to deliver high-quality dam reservoir and hydraulic structure outcomes. We offer hybrid working which involves 3 days per week being office/site based. This position is based in our Epsom Peterborough Bristol Swansea Manchester Glasgow or Cambridge offices.

As a Senior or PrincipalDams and ReservoirEngineer in our Dams Reservoirs & Hydraulic Structures discipline the successful candidate would have the following responsibilities:

• Provide technical input into project deliverablesforreservoir and hydraulicstructuresaspects of single discipline and complex multi-disciplinary projects working with the project management team to successfully manage time and budgets to key project requirements.

• Coordinate or manage a team of engineersand scientistsfor delivery of technical design work on complex multi-disciplinaryreservoirand hydraulic structuresprojects following relevant national and project specific design codes and standards and to high-quality levels.

• Responsiblefor producingandchecking technicaldeliverables such asstudy and design reports calculations drawings and other construction documentation.

• Build relationships with clients supporting the delivery of trusted technical advice and high-quality outcomes.

• Collaborate with client operational project or service activities within your immediate team and other relatedAtkinsRéalisteams

• Provide mentorship to less experienced colleagues and help to grow theDams Reservoirs and Hydraulic StructuresEngineering capabilities within the local team.

• Work independently with minimal technical personal judgement to solve difficult problems whereappropriateand provide guidance to junior team members.

• Provide technical support for bid proposals

• Work closely with a multi-disciplinary team in the UK and overseas to deliverintegrated design solutions.

• Adhere to quality assurance standards in design including check and review ofownwork as well as others.

The ideal candidate would be a well-rounded and versatile individual who exemplifies the following key skills and attributes:

• A degree inCivilEngineering or equivalent

• Charteredor IncorporatedCivilEngineer OR extensive experience and the ability to become chartered within 12 months.

• Knowledge and practical experience inanalysis optioneering and designrelevant to new or existingearth / concrete damsweirs hydraulic structures and their associated works.

• Proven experience in coordinating or managing engineering study and design delivery teams within a consultancy environment including multidisciplinary projects with the ability to interpret wider project requirements integrate inputs across disciplines and guide teams toward successful project outcomes.

• Takesbroadperspective toidentifyinnovative solutions to design problems.

• Practical knowledge of current design codes and standards as well as industry best practices including CDM Regulations.

• Ability to work independently with minimal technical guidance

• Demonstratesstrong communicationskills with the ability to convey technical concepts clearly and effectively withindiverse multi-disciplinaryteams.

• A proactive highly motivated mindset with a collaborative approach to drive teamwork andsharedsuccess across projects.

• Achieved or willing to work towards Supervising Engineer status.
