Job Summary
This is a remote position.
- The Food Safety Officer / Environmental Health Officer (EHO) will be responsible for conducting food hygiene inspections and investigating complaints to ensure compliance with relevant food safety legislation.
- Conduct routine and risk-based food hygiene inspections across various premises.
- Assess compliance with food safety legislation codes of practice and local authority standards.
- Provide clear feedback and guidance to food business operators to achieve compliance.
- Investigate food-related complaints including food safety concerns and hygiene issues.
- Gather evidence carry out inspections and take appropriate enforcement action where necessary.
- Prepare reports and documentation to support enforcement decisions.
- Experience in conducting food hygiene inspections and/or complaint investigations.
- Strong knowledge of food safety legislation and enforcement processes.
- Experience managing an independent caseload.
- Environmental Health degree or equivalent qualification (or Food Safety qualification recognized by the FSA).
- Must be Food Competent in line with the Food Law Code of Practice.
- Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) or equivalent (desirable).
- Working hours: 20 hours per week.
- Remote working.
- We operate on a bi-weekly schedule.
