About the Opportunity

Are you good at spinning plates

Its not something you see very often on TV these days but figuratively it is a very useful skill one of which is vital if your goal is to keep nuclear power stations operating safely contributing to the UKs Net Zero carbon target or to help prepare them for decommissioning.

The UKs five operating stations deliver 16% of the UKs power and it takes a large team delivering 100s of projects to enable these stations to continue generating as well as defuel the three stations that have ceased operation - and thats a lot of plates.

And this is where you come in

If youre familiar with project delivery youll know that they have plenty of moving parts and complexity which is why youll be working alongside our Subject Matter Experts Operations Managers and with our Framework Service team too.

Amentum are recruiting for a Senior Project Controls Engineer (Cost and Planning duel role) to join our Energy Engineering and Technical Services team supporting our projects across the UK.

• The position is accountable to the Operations Manager and are responsible to develop & manage schedules to incorporate risk change resource requirements and cost in accordance with Amentum requirements and Standards.

• The cost element of this role will be responsible for providing cost management support to the Framework teams and will monitor control and forecast the costs during the Project lifecycle. This role has no direct reports.

• The role can be based at any of our UK Amentum Office and may require from time to time business travel to UK sites/stations. Flexible working arrangements between office and home may be possible.

• Everyone working in our team will have a proven track record of working within highly regulated environments with high safety standards and culture.

• Good communication and organisational skills are a must with the ability to develop relationships and maintain effective networks and be results-focused with a team-centred approach.

Heres What Youll Need

• Minimum of HNC/HND ideally in an Engineering discipline or relevant experience.

• Breadth of experience across whole project and programme lifecycle. e.g. Engineering Procurement Construction Installation/Commissioning.

• Understand the inter-relationship between time cost and commercial aspects of the project life cycle.

• Experienced in the latest version of Primavera.

• The ability to reconcile cost information as it applies to the programmes of work.

• Proficient in the use of estimating scheduling programming risk tools and Earned Value Analysis.

• Ability to communicate well at all levels of management produce monthly reports to an agreed reporting cycle to provision of intelligent information.

• Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.

• Able to establish robust Work Breakdown and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope in accordance with Investment Delivery processes templates and Procedures.

• Knowledge to maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance.

• Monitor control and analyse the project programme and cost information using Earned Value methodologies

• Experienced to integrate 3rd party schedules and data into the overall project plan.

• Ability to communicate well at all levels of management and can produce monthly reports to an agreed reporting cycle through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.
