Were intensely proud of our Volunteer Mentoring service. Since 1998 weve been mobilising our community to get alongside young people who are facing the toughest of life challenges at home or school.

With our training support and supervision adult volunteer mentors work 1-1 with each child providing a life-changing mix of time listening fun activities and new skills. Mentees tell us they feel happier more confident more able to engage with education and hopeful for their future.

Our staff love this work and stay with us a long time. So its a very special opportunity when a role becomes available delivering managing and driving forward volunteer mentoring.

Were looking for a special person to be our next Senior Practitioner for volunteer mentoring for our older cohort (young people aged 11-25). This person will lead our delivery motivate and manage the team engage with adult volunteers and build key relationships in our community.

Youll have at least 2 years professional experience in a similar field and be ambitious to take significant responsibility. Youll be confident interacting with adult professionals and equally at home chatting with a teenager. Most of all youll be driven to use your skills and energy to improve the life experiences of young people with unmet needs. Theres a full role profile on our website link below.

Whats this role all about

This role involves managing the delivery of a funded project ensuring caseloads are met and reporting on impact to funders.

Along with daily casework youll be onboarding appropriate adult volunteers following a rigorous safer recruitment process while maintaining their enthusiasm and commitment. Youll be maintaining careful records in our secure casework database. And youll have safeguarding responsibility for your teams young people supported by our designated safeguarding lead.

Theres working with colleagues to provide our engaging and well-regarded training and collaborating with other Senior Practitioners to enhance practice policy and procedures. And importantly this role includes direct work with a small number of young people their families and mentors because thats both the challenge and the fun bit.

Our work takes practitioners across Bath & NE Somerset including rural areas on a regular basis and includes transporting young people so its essential you have a full driving licence and a well-maintained vehicle with business insurance (mileage is paid at HMRC rates).

Theres budget for annual training some mandatory but the rest to follow relevant professional passions.

We work hard but we respect each others personal time. Your work phone goes off at the end of the working day. You have time for lunch away from your desk and a chat over a cuppa with your team. Subject to policy you can work away from the office when it suits and adjust your hours to work for you.
