Job Summary


One YMCA is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Perinatal Practitioner to join our Family Support Services team on a 1 year fixed-term maternity cover basis.

This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role supporting families from pregnancy through to a childs first year of life - a crucial period that lays the foundation for future wellbeing. About the Role: Working closely with the Perinatal and Family Support Lead you will help ensure our perinatal services are responsive inclusive and impactful. You will provide both direct support to families and day-to-day leadership to practitioners delivering services across Watford and Three Rivers.

Key responsibilities include:
Supervising mentoring and supporting practitioners to deliver high-quality services
Delivering engaging antenatal and postnatal programmes including Preparing for Parenthood Baby Massage and Infant Feeding
Managing a small caseload of families with more complex or additional support needs
Working collaboratively with health professionals social care teams and community partners
Promoting positive outcomes for parents babies and families
Supporting service development and continuous improvement to meet local needs

About You!
You are a confident and experienced practitioner with a strong understanding of perinatal and family support services. You are passionate about early intervention and have the skills to lead motivate and support others.

You will have:
Experience delivering antenatal and postnatal support programmes and group-based interventions
Previous leadership supervisory or mentoring experience
Strong knowledge of safeguarding Early Help processes and multi-agency working
Excellent communication interpersonal and relationship-building skills
A Level 4 qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle and ability to travel across Watford and Three Rivers as required
Enhanced DBS check

  • Youth services offering emotional wellbeing support and youth club opportunities for 11-19 year olds alongside our National Airplay programme funded by the RAF Benevolent Fund

The Family Support Service is part of the Hertfordshire Family Centre Service. We offer support advice and guidance for families from pregnancy through to when a child reaches the end of Primary School (11 years old). Our purpose is to support families to receive seamless integrated services support and information on key areas relating to family life. This is provided through universal services where there are emerging needs along with when more specialist or 1;1 support would be beneficial. Services can be delivered through 1:1 group sessions and activities accessed within centres community venues or support workers will visit families within their homes to ensure individual familys needs are met.

The geographical area we cover includes Broxbourne East Herts and Welwyn and Hatfield Districts (the East Quadrant of Hertfordshire). With our purpose being to support children and families to have the best start in life develop well and thrive.
