Job Summary
TheSenior Manager Origination &Structuringwill play a pivotalrolesecuring grid access for Equinixs strategic markets. This role requiresdeepunderstanding of energy markets engagement with utility and IPP partners contract negotiation large load grid connections and understanding of energy policy Senior Manager will lead effortsinWestern European markets (UK Netherlands France Germany)withprogression intoadditionalmarkets within EMEA region in time.
Responsibilities
Power origination:Identifypower development opportunities withinregionsthat meet DC build timelines and energy from developers utilities IPPs onsitegenerationor hybrid approaches
Energy contract negotiation:Lead commercial structuring and negotiation with utilities and IPPs includingcarbon-freephysical or virtual PPAs and Energy or Retail Supply Agreements
Utilityand IPPRelationship Management:Own relationship with current andpotentialutilityand negotiation of structured energy contracts ensuringtimely reliable and cost-effective power supply for Equinixs global operations
IPP Agreement Oversight:In coordination with Energy operations manage and oversee agreements with Independent Power Producers (IPPs) ensuring that contracts align with the companys energy procurement goals and compliance requirements
On Site Power Generation & Storage:In coordination with Global Design and Construction evaluate OSPG and storage options for long term power needs bridging solutionsand orgrid services
Power Availability Strategy:Assistin the development and execution of strategies to ensure continuous and reliable power availability across all Equinix facilities considering both current needs and future growth
Market Analysis and Strategy:Monitor and analyze energy marketsregulatory changesidentifyingtrends and opportunities that inform the companys long-term power strategiesin close coordination with Regional and Global Public Policy teams
Technical Leadership:Provideexpert guidance onpowerregional power strategy includingorigination utilities/IPPmanagement& regulatory changesensuring that the companys power infrastructure isdelivered on time reliably and aligned with industry best practices
Project Oversight:Contributetopower strategyfor newand existingdevelopments from origination throughenergization and ongoing relationships with power providers
Legal and Regulatory Compliance:Collaborate with the legal team to navigate the complexities of utility agreements and IPP contracts ensuring all contracts are compliant with local regulations and company policies
Risk Management:Identifyand mitigate risks associated with power procurement utility connections and IPP agreements ensuring the companys energy needs are met without compromising on quality or cost-effectiveness
Qualifications
Experience:Proven years ofexperienceenergy utilities or infrastructure sector with a strong focus on origination development and regulatory functions
Education:Bachelors degree in EngineeringEnergy ManagementBusiness ora relatedfield. Advanced degree or certifications in energy management or project management -worldexperience in wholesale or retail power markets will also be considered
Technical Expertise:Extensive knowledge ofexisting and emergingenergy systems utility connections IPP agreements andEUenergy markets with the ability to apply thisexpertisein a strategic context
Project Management:Proventrack recordmanaging large-scale projectsfrominceptionto operations ideally in energy or data center development
Contracting experience:Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory aspects of utility agreements IPP contracts and energy procurement
EnergyMarket Insight:Deep familiarity with theEU energy and digital-infrastructure regulationspermittingframeworks and transmission planningpolicies
Language Englishprimary withGermanSpanish or French language skillsanadditionalplus
