At Bristol Myers Squibb were looking for a Senior Manager EHSS to join our Moreton UK site - a hands-on programme-owning role that sits within a collaborative EHSS leadership structure and puts you at the forefront of delivery across some of the most critical areas of site safety.
Reporting into the Director of Site Operations & EHS with a close working relationship with the Associate Director EHS Moreton who is responsible for the delivery of the defined EHS Strategy youll work within a clearly defined and well-supported framework: the AD EHS holds overall responsibility for the EHS strategy delivery and you will hold genuine delivery responsibility for the programmes that bring that strategy to life.
Youll have the strategic backing and senior cover to focus on what you do best: executing improving and driving real outcomes. No ambiguity about your remit. No trying to do everything alone. Just focused high-impact delivery with strong leadership around you.
Where your expertise will make an impact
COSHH & Chemical Safety youll own this end to end.
- Youll be responsible for the site COSHH compliance programme ensuring robust chemical risk management effective governance and ongoing regulatory compliance. With your strong understanding of chemical safety and occupational health youll be the subject matter authority that colleagues and the wider EHSS team rely on. Thats a depth of specialism that keeps your skills sharp and your professional profile strong.
Safety Culture - youll move it forward not just monitor it.
- As Chair of the Site Safety Culture Group your role here goes far beyond facilitation. Youll drive initiatives that genuinely shift how people engage with safety - building ownership at all levels and continuing to move the site from compliance-as-habit to safety-as-conviction. Risk Assessment - youll shape how the site understands its risks.
- Youll be responsible for the evolution of the site-wide risk assessment programme - from development and implementation through to review and governance. This isnt maintenance work. The word evolution is deliberate: youll be expected to bring fresh thinking to how the site identifies assesses and manages its operational and regulatory risk landscape. Thats a mandate for genuine improvement and a powerful feather in the cap of any senior EHS professional.
Training Framework - youll build the system that keeps people competent and safe.
- Owning the site EHSS training framework and matrix means youre responsible for making sure mandatory safety training competency assessments and compliance requirements are not just met but meaningfully delivered. Youll bring structure rigour and a practical edge to the learning infrastructure that underpins safe operations across the site. SOPs & Governance - youll be the standard-bearer for how things are done.
- Responsible for the management and governance of EHSS procedures and SOPs youll ensure the documentary backbone of site safety remains current compliant and fit for purpose. Meticulous yes but also strategically important. Strong document governance is what stands up to scrutiny when an inspector walks through the door. That experience is hard-won and highly valued.
Emergency Preparedness - youll be ready before anyone else needs to be.

Day-to-Day EHSS Leadership flexible responsive trusted.
- Youll direct the day-to-day resolution of technical scientific and operational challenges under your remit working closely with the Associate Director EHSS on complex or high-impact risk areas. When regulatory inspections internal and external audits incident investigations or emerging business priorities arise youll be one of the first people the site turns to. High visibility and a powerful marker of professional credibility.
What you bring
Youll be the right fit for this role if you have:
- 10 years of EHS experience in a regulated manufacturing pharmaceutical biotechnology laboratory or industrial environment
- A degree in EHS Science Engineering Occupational Hygiene or a related field
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification preferred - NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum
- Chartered status with IOSH IEMA or BOHS or actively working towards it
- Solid knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems
- Strong knowledge of UK health safety and environmental legislation
- Proven experience in incident investigation root cause analysis and corrective action management
- Hands-on experience with EHSS management systems training platforms and document control
- A genuine track record of influencing culture and driving behavioural change across diverse audiences
