Job Summary
Senior Grower Bedding Plants - Kent 35000 (Paid overtime on weekends)
The Job:
- Lead and coordinate day-to-day growing activities across the nursery.
-Monitor crops and maintain consistently high standards of plant health and quality.
-Oversee production from seed or cutting through to finished plants.
-Manage sowing plugs potting watering feeding and spraying.
-Identify and respond to pests diseases and other plant-health issues.
-Plan crop production schedules and make effective use of available growing space.
-Coordinate potting and planting activities with the wider nursery team.
-Ensure finished plants meet customer specifications and quality standards.
-Maintain accurate stock records and ensure essential growing supplies are available.
-Operate relevant nursery machinery and equipment when required.
-Ensure health and safety procedures are followed across the nursery.
-Lead support and work alongside the nursery team on a daily basis.
-Assist with general nursery duties as required.
The Company:
An established and successful plant nursery is looking for an experienced and hands-on Senior Grower to join their team and take responsibility for the day-to-day growing successful candidate will oversee the production of bedding plants from seed and cuttings through to finished product ensuring crops are grown to the highest possible standards and meet customer is a hands-on predominantly greenhouse-based position requiring someone who is confident working alongside a nursery team while taking responsibility for crop planning plant health irrigation and production will play a key role in ensuring the nursery operates efficiently maintaining high standards of quality and providing leadership and support to the wider growing team.
The Candidate:
-Several years experience as a Senior Grower Grower Lead Grower or in a similar horticultural role.
-Previous experience producing bedding plants is essential.
-Experience planning and managing large-scale horticultural production.
-Strong knowledge of plant health irrigation pest control and crop management.
-PA1 and PA6 pesticide application certificates.
-Forklift and telehandler experience.
-Strong organisational leadership and problem-solving skills.
-A practical hands-on approach and willingness to undertake physical work.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a team while taking responsibility for growing operations.
-Flexibility to work weekends when required.
-Experience growing herbaceous perennials would be advantageous.
The Package:
-35000 per annum
-Monday to Friday working hours
-Paid overtime for weekend work
- Full-time permanent position
