Summary
  • The Senior Governance Officer will play a crucial role within the Universitys Governance Office supporting the effective operation of governance frameworks and decision-making processes. Working closely with the University Secretary Executive Board and University Council the postholder will ensure that governance activities are well-coordinated compliant and delivered to a high professional standard.
Responsibilities
  • Support the smooth operation of Boards and Committees ensuring adherence to terms of reference and governance requirements.
  • Manage key governance structures including the University Council its committees and the Executive Board.
  • Coordinate agendas papers and documentation to facilitate effective decision-making.
  • Organise and service meetings including preparing documentation and taking accurate minutes.
  • Maintain action logs and ensure timely follow-up on decisions and agreed actions.
  • Communicate outcomes and decisions clearly to relevant stakeholders including paper authors.
Requirements
Essential Experience Required
  • Minimum 2 years experience in a governance administration or similar role within a complex organisation.
  • Experience supporting senior stakeholders and managing high-level meetings or committees.
  • Experience in preparing governance documentation agendas and minutes.
Essential Qualifications Required
  • Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development (desirable).
Additional Information
  • Working hours: 35 hours per week.
  • This role is for a fixed term period until 31 July 2026.
  • The anticipated start date is as soon as possible.
  • The role is full-time although part-time will be considered.
  • The role is fully office-based.
  • We work on a bi-weekly schedule.
