This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Finance Services team as we aim to continue to deliver a high-quality service in the processing of financial transactions on behalf of our Government clients.

Key responsibilities will include but not limited to the following:

• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the General Ledger area supporting the teams with complex queries advice and training and dealing with client escalations.

• Carry out root-cause analysis to provide an understanding of accounting reporting and system problems/anomalies.

• Review processes in line with continuous improvement objectives; identify areas where change could bring about efficiencies and take forward proposed improvements to completion.

• Input into system changes and major programmes providing technical and process knowledge identifying areas of concern and suggesting testing within the team and develop new processes to ensure that systems and change initiatives integrate smoothly into the teams.

• Take a leading role in client-facing activities such as year-end negotiations review meetings and working groups.

• Build a good working relationship with SMEs leaders and accountants across UKSBS and our client base collaborating on issues and providing advice on accounting processes and impacts.

• Support Head of Department and Operations Managers with strategic planning ad hoc projects investigations and audits.

To do this role well you will need:

• A proven track record of working within a Finance based role ideally with a finance related qualification/accreditation

• Educated to GCSE level including Mathematics and English or proven ability to work at this level

• Excellent understanding of and experience working with double-sided accounting.

• High level of expertise in General Ledger accounting including all types of account reconciliation and complex accounting query resolution

• Excellent knowledge of Finance process best practice and ability to represent Finance in major change programmes.

• Ability to explain complex accounting issues to non-finance stakeholders.

• Advanced Excel knowledge including working with complex formulas and macros.

• Excellent numeracy and analytical skills
• Proven people management skills

• Good organisational skills the ability to multitask prioritise and work to strict and tight deadlines.

• Effective at problem solving and dealing with complex queries.

• Ability to face challenges proactively and be comfortable and confident dealing with a diverse range of customers at all levels.

• Knowledge and experience of Oracle would be preferred

• Excellent relationship management skills including the ability to influence
