Purpose of the role:

As a Senior Electrical Engineer you will play a key role within our Systems Engineering team contributing to the electrical and power electronic design of Ceres fuel cell and electrolysis systems. You will be involved in the design and development of electrical networks for grid-connected fuel cell and electrolyser systems across both AC and DC distribution architectures undertaking power analysis electrical system modelling and the evaluation of innovative technical solutions and concepts. Working closely with multidisciplinary teams you will support the ongoing development and improvement of fuel cell stacks electrolyser stacks and stack array module designs producing high-quality design documentation electrical architecture drawings physical concepts and high-level wiring schematics for both internal and external stakeholders.

The role carries responsibility for ensuring electrical designs comply with relevant national and international standards including IEEE ANSI IEC and NFPA requirements. You will generate and review electrical design requirements for interfacing fuel cell and electrolyser modules with external systems provide expert technical guidance to project leadership and ensure electrical risks are identified assessed and mitigated throughout the project addition you will oversee review and approve work carried out by electrical contractors and installers ensuring designs are delivered to the required quality safety and performance standards. The position also involves supporting project delivery activities including site installation commissioning troubleshooting and the practical implementation of electrical systems while providing technical support to grid connection activities and other areas across Ceres where electrical engineering expertise is critical.

Knowledge and skills required for the role:

Qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline

Ceres projects have a strong R&D component and involve working on first-of-a-kind prototype development; therefore a positive mindset and can-do attitude are strongly desirable

Hands-on and practical with strong theoretical knowledge and experience of real-world components and systems

Experience designing and delivering grid connections for power generation and demand projects involving AC and DC distribution; experience with MW-scale systems is an advantage

Practical experience of designing electrical systems including cable sizing protection device selection and earthing/grounding design with the ability to advise on panel and wiring layouts connection requirements and cable management

Experience interfacing electrical systems with control-system elements such as PLCs embedded microcontrollers electronic power converters and protection devices

Good understanding of grid-connection processes regulations and policies across different geographical regions including national and international standards

Knowledge of power-system modelling and analysis with experience using ETAP EPLAN and MATLAB or similar tools

Knowledge of reviewing electrical designs including electrical drawings and schematics ETAP designs bills of materials load calculations component selection and EPLAN schematics
