Job Summary
About the Role
Wyre Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electoral Services Officer to play a key role in delivering elections maintaining the electoral register and supporting civic and mayoral functions. This role supports the Returning Officer in delivering elections and referendums and may act as Deputy Returning Officer when required.
Key Responsibilities
Support delivery of all elections including Parliamentary County District and Parish elections
Maintain and manage the electoral register in line with legislation
Assess and determine voter registration applications including complex cases
Lead annual household canvass and registration activities
Manage Electoral Services Administration Officer and temporary staff
Oversee electoral IT systems such as Xpress
Deliver training for election staff and canvassers
Monitor budgets and support reporting requirements
Lead engagement to increase democratic participation
Support mayoral and civic events such as Annual Council and Remembrance Sunday
About You
AEA Foundation in Electoral Administration (essential)
GCSEs or equivalent in English and Maths (essential)
Experience in electoral services within local government
Knowledge of electoral processes and legislation
Experience using electoral systems such as Xpress
Strong organisational and communication skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
Understanding of GDPR and handling sensitive data
