Senior Democratic Services Officer
Job Summary
We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in Slough to assist with the appointment of a Senior Democratic Services Officer on a6-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.
Rate of Pay: 295.32 - 399.00 per day
Summary:
The Senior Democratic Services Officer will lead on allocated committees panels scrutiny working groups and appeal panels including complex areas of work while providing procedural and constitutional advice. The postholder will also support Cabinet and Executive functions decision-making processes forward planning and member development.
Responsibilities:
- Lead on the end-to-end administration and governance support for allocated committees panels scrutiny working groups appeal panels and other meetings.
- Provide direct support to Cabinet and Executive functions ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and constitutional guidelines.
- Coordinate maintain and publish the Councils Forward Plan ensuring key decisions are appropriately tracked and reported.
- Manage pre-meeting processes including supporting and advising during briefings with Senior Leaders and Cabinet members.
- Prepare and distribute work plans reports agendas minutes notices and action logs in accordance with statutory and local deadlines.
- Draft high-quality legally compliant agendas reports minutes and other democratic documentation.
Qualification:
- English language qualification to a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 or equivalent.
Essentials:
- Demonstrable experience working within Democratic Services Committee Services and/or Scrutiny Services.
- Minimum of 4 years experience in a Local Authority Democratic Services role with significant experience supporting Cabinet/Executive functions.
- Detailed knowledge of the law procedures and practices relating to Democratic Committee and/or Scrutiny Services.
- Experience providing procedural or technical advice to a range of individuals.
- Experience carrying out complex administrative or office management tasks.
