Role description:
TheSenior Data Scientistis responsibleand accountablefor leading (and overseeing) technical deliveryof Arcadisdigital and analytical solutions. TheSenior Data Scientistwill provideexpertisethrough theimplementation ofthesesolutions for our customersmaximisingthe valueoftheirdatatosolvetheirmost pressingbusiness problems.
The role sits within our Asset Management service area in the Solutions Delivery groupserves large asset owningorganisations across water railand roadgovernmentand other solutions we provide area combination of configured productsand services sowhilstexperience in these sectors isdesirableacuriosityto understandthe whybehind the problem andtheability to contextualize to thesectorareessential.
The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for the management and delivery of projects be required to coach other Junior Data Scientists and Junior Analytics Consultants within the Solution Delivery group and contribute to business development and growth. They will play a key client-facing role throughout the project lifecycle from requirements gathering and solution demonstrations through to results presentation training and supporting adoption of delivered solutions.
The Senior Data Scientist will also work closely with other Arcadis teams including those within the global Solutions Delivery group and Arcadis Product and Technology teams who are responsible for Arcadis digital products and tooling (such as EDA). Further to this the Senior Data Scientist will interface with the wider business to provide guidance on future solutions and technical input for analytics solutions and products.
Role accountabilities:
- Driving quality and innovation withindata analytics solutionsandidentifyinganddisseminatingbest practice in terms of approaches and role includes and surpasses the need to align around our standards and ways of working; it requires active contribution to improving our standards into the future.
- Manage the delivery of analytical projects to clients ensuring assigned projects are delivered on time within budget to high quality andin accordance withproject scope.
- Develop strong and trusted relationships with client representatives driven bytrack recordand credibility.
- Act as analytics solution architect ensuring that the design fully meets the clients needs and wherever possible has the potential to be offered to other clients with minimal re-work to maximise future revenue.
- Manage outputs and quality throughout delivery of a project ensuring all work packages align to the project scope.
- Peer review of reports dashboardsand code produced by colleagues.
- Provide support for business development including:
- Delivery of technical sales support including software demonstrations.
- Writing proposals for client projectsandscope changes and convert them to sales.
- Identifyingopportunities to generateadditionalrevenue and develop new revenue streams.
- Ensure the services and software delivered fully meets client expectations and delivers value in terms of realisation of business benefits.
Qualifications & Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a background in solution deployment and analytics consultancy ideally within a physical asset owning company context. They will have good communication and organisational skills. They will have a strong understanding of advanced analytics techniques such as optimisation and general numerical modelling. A keen interest in the latest technologies is important to help ensure that our work stays on the cutting edge.
More importantly than these technical skills however we are looking for someone to be an analytics leader pushing forward the boundaries of what we do and the standards expected of the wider analytics team. The successful candidate will need to be resilient and maintain a positive attitude when faced with challenges be an excellent problem-solver and be happy to be out of their comfort zone. They will need to have excellent communication skills not just at a technical level but also with more business-focused colleagues. They will not shy away from a challenge and will stand up and be counted. They will never be satisfied and always look to find the next improvement in what Arcadis does and how we do it.
- Experience of delivery of analytical projects in a consultancy environment.
- An effective communicator who is credible confident and articulate. Able to communicate complex technical detail (both verbal and written) to non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability in presenting methodologies and results to all levels in a business environment.
- Demonstrable skills in data collection and interpretation.
- Experience coaching other technology professionals at various levels.
- Ability to simplify the complex using different communication styles and navigate differing stakeholder points of view.
- Understanding of investment models assets and systems of assets including Optimisation (linear and non-linear) Prioritisation and Monte Carlo analysis.
- Experience of working for a large asset owning company or on projects for such companies would be advantageous.
- Predictive and/or prescriptive analytics and machine learning.
- Practical experience of mathematical and statistical analysis and modelling skills including sensitivity and scenario analysis of analytical models.
- Demonstrable use of R Python Matlab SAS SPSS or similar statistical packages to process data and carry out advanced analytics techniques.
- Experience in advanced data visualisation techniques along with tools such as Qlik Power BI and open source visualisation tools.
- Experience working with professional coding technologies such as Git and Docker. Experience working with modern cloud technologies such as Azure and Fabric.
