This is a great opportunity to support local democracy at Suffolk County Council as a Senior Administrator in Democratic Services working alongside politicians and officers across all departments as well as providing advice and information to the public. Your role and responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for councillors members of the public and staff through the councillor service helpdesk.
  • Managing multiple inboxes covering a broad range of queries and issues.
  • Running budget reports using Oracle Fusion and reconciling spend.
  • Administering Councillor Locality Budget Grants.
  • Processing Councillor Expense claims
  • Maintaining the democracy and governance pages on the Councils website
  • Updating the democratic information on the Councils Intranet for staff and councillors
  • Handling and recording petitions using an established procedure

You will need

  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team sharing and supporting workloads as required.
  • Excellent organisational and administrative skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Understanding of the distinct roles of councillors and officers.
  • Confidence using Microsoft Office applications and editing webpages (training will be provided).
  • Commitment to delivering high standards of customer service.
  • Knowledge of local government and political awareness is desirable.

The Democratic Services Team provides a range of administrational support services to Councillors officers and members of the public. We are a small friendly and supportive team that comprises of range of roles all of which support the governance of the Council.
