Job Summary

3-4 months contract Role with a local authority

Job Purpose

To manage and coordinate a caseload of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) ensuring full compliance with statutory requirements under the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice (2015). The role focuses on Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) and post-16/18 transitions ensuring effective planning delivery and review of Education Health and Care (EHC) processes to achieve positive outcomes.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

Manage a high-volume caseload (approximately 200 cases) independently ensuring all statutory duties and service standards are met.

Coordinate the full EHC needs assessment planning and review processes including drafting issuing and amending EHC Plans within statutory timescales.

Attend and chair annual reviews transition reviews and other relevant meetings to support effective outcomes and PfA planning.

Work collaboratively with families schools post-16 providers health professionals social care teams and partner agencies to secure appropriate provision and placements.

Promote and embed the voice of children and young people ensuring their views and aspirations inform all decision-making.

Essential Experience Required

Minimum of 3 years experience working as a SEND Officer or in a similar role.

Strong working knowledge of Preparing for Adulthood (PfA) and post-16/18 SEND processes.

Proven experience managing a high-volume caseload and meeting statutory deadlines.

Experience of attending and chairing annual reviews and multi-agency meetings.

Essential Qualifications Required

Relevant qualification in education social care or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Intermediate working knowledge of:

Capita ONE / MRI systems

Microsoft Office (Word Excel Outlook)

SharePoint

Availability to work full-time (5 days per week) to support service delivery requirements.

Additional information to note

Working hours: 37 hours per week.

Location: Floor 2nd Time Square RG12 1JD

Enhanced DBS required.
