SEN Teaching Assistant Part Time

We have an exciting opportunity fora Part Time Teaching Assistantto join us at Portfield Schoolworking 2 or 3 days per week.

Working in specialist education is incredibly rewarding. As part of our team youll help create a positive and supportive environment where every student is encouraged to take part develop new skills and celebrate their achievements.

You dont need a background in teaching or specialist education to apply. Were interested in who you are how you connect with young people and your willingness to learn.

To help you succeed youll take part in our 12-week training programme giving you the opportunity to build your understanding develop practical skills and gain confidence in the role. Youll also have the support of an experienced team around you as you settle into school life.

The role

Your role will be varied. Youll work alongside teachers and other members of the school team providing practical and emotional support and helping students engage with their education in ways that work for them. From encouraging a student to try something new to celebrating a milestone theyve worked hard to reach your contribution can have a lasting impact.

The role is unbelievably rewarding some days can be challenging both physically and emotionally but youll be part of a supportive team every step of the way. Whether you need guidance from a colleague your line manager the wider Leadership Team our Mental Health First Aiders or our Employee Assistance Programme youll have people around you who genuinely care about your wellbeing.

At Portfield School we know that progress doesnt always come in big leaps. Sometimes its a student proudly showing you something theyve created being brave enough to taste something unfamiliar finally cracking a difficult maths problem or choosing to start a conversation. These moments may seem small to others but to us they are achievements worth celebrating.

Hours varied

Wednesday (08:30am 4pm) and Thursday (08:30am 4pm)

Monday (08:30am 4pm) Wednesday (08:30am 4pm) and Friday (08:30am 3:30pm)

Monday (08:30am 4pm) Thursday (08:30am 4pm) and Friday (08:30am 3:30pm)

Tuesday (08:30am 4:30pm) and Friday (08:30am 3:30pm)

To be successful as a Teaching Assistant we are looking for someonewho:

• Can easily adapt themselves in different situations
• Has a fun and supportive nature
• Doesnt hesitate to play and get messy
• Displays a calm approach even when under pressure
• Will support with personal care such as nappies and toilet training
• Can participate in any exercise and activities required
• Will use their initiative where needed
