SEN Case Officer 4 Month Contract

Location: Fully Remote
Rate: 300 per day
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:45am 5:00pm Friday 8:45am 4:00pm

Summary

This is a 4-month contract role responsible for quality assuring and managing Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) amendment processes. The SEN Case Officer ensures that plans are accurate compliant and progressed efficiently within statutory timescales. The role involves close collaboration with professionals education settings business support teams and funding panels to ensure EHCP amendments are evidence-based legally compliant and focused on achieving positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND.

Responsibilities

  • EHCP Amendment Management
    • Quality assure all Proposed Amendment Plans (PAPs) prior to issue
    • Ensure amendments from professionals parents and education settings are accurately reflected
    • Review EHCPs for consistency across Sections B F and I
    • Ensure all proposed amendments are clear specific and legally compliant
  • Statutory Compliance
    • Follow statutory amendment procedures correctly
    • Monitor compliance with statutory timescales notifications and rights of appeal
    • Verify that proposed amendments are appropriately evidenced and justified
    • Ensure documentation supports decision-making and statutory requirements
  • Funding & Provision Review
    • Review and validate funding requests arising from EHCP amendments
    • Ensure funding recommendations are evidence-based and aligned with identified provision
    • Identify cases requiring escalation to funding or SEND panels
    • Prepare clear and robust funding submissions where required
  • Case Management & Decision Making
    • Approve Proposed Amendment Plans once all quality assurance checks are completed
    • Ensure documentation is accurate complete and audit-ready
    • Maintain accurate records throughout the EHCP amendment process
    • Support effective and legally compliant decision-making
  • Performance & Service Delivery
    • Maintain consistency across a high volume of EHCP amendment cases
    • Support efficient turnaround of cases within statutory deadlines
    • Work collaboratively with case officers education professionals and business support teams
    • Contribute to continuous service improvement and quality assurance standards

Knowledge

  • Essential:
    • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice
    • Understanding of EHCP legislation and statutory processes
    • Knowledge of EHCP Sections B F and I
    • Understanding of SEND funding processes and provision planning
    • Knowledge of statutory timelines and compliance requirements
Experience

  • Essential:
    • Experience working as an SEN Case Officer or within a SEND service
    • Experience managing EHCP assessments reviews and amendments
    • Experience applying SEND legislation and statutory guidance
    • Experience working within a local authority SEND environment
    • Experience reviewing professional reports and recommendations
  • Desirable:
    • Experience presenting cases to SEND funding panels
    • Experience quality assuring EHCP documentation
