Job Summary

Set within the vibrant and accessible outskirts of Swindon Wiltshire a popular and forward-thinking village primary school is seeking a proactive hands-on IT & Science Technician to join our vibrant staff team on a permanent full-time basis starting as soon as possible.

In this varied hybrid role you will support both our digital learning infrastructure and our hands-on primary science labs ensuring young learners have access to fully functioning technology and exciting scientific equipment every day.

Job Overview

Working under the direction of the School Business Manager and Science Lead you will split your time between maintaining classroom tech/devices and preparing practical science equipment apparatus and materials for student experiments.

Key Responsibilities
  • IT & Helpdesk Support: Diagnose and resolve 1st-line hardware software and tablet/Chromebook faults; manage user accounts and assist teachers with classroom tech.

  • Science Lab & Equipment Prep: Prepare resources chemicals and safe apparatus for hands-on primary science demonstrations and investigative lessons.

  • Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure safe storage of science chemicals (COSHH) maintain chemical inventories and conduct regular checks on classroom technology and lab safety gear.

  • Hardware Maintenance: Image update and repair school laptops interactive touchscreens and peripheral learning devices.

  • Resource Management: Keep stock levels of IT consumables and science department materials organized tracked and restocked.

  • STEM Promotion: Help set up interactive science displays and support teachers during practical STEM club activities.

  • Problem-Solving Mindset: A logical methodical and safe approach to preparing practical resources and resolving technical faults.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Patient friendly and capable of communicating effectively with young children and teaching staff.

  • Compliance Requirement: An enhanced DBS check registered on the Update Service (or readiness to complete a clearance process prior to starting).
