About the Role

You will assist teaching staff across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 (GCSE) and Key Stage 5 (A-Level) by preparing apparatus chemical solutions and biological specimens for practical classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare apparatus equipment and chemical solutions accurately and safely for practical science lessons and examinations.

  • Ensure strict compliance with CLEAPSS COSHH and school Health & Safety guidelines across all laboratories and prep rooms.

  • Maintain equipment stock levels perform routine maintenance and order chemical/general laboratory supplies as needed.

  • Safely store handle and dispose of hazardous materials and scientific waste in accordance with safety regulations.

  • Assist teaching staff during practical demonstrations open days and co-curricular STEM clubs.

Candidate Requirements
  • Qualifications: A degree in Science (Chemistry Biology Physics or related) OR a relevant technical qualification (e.g. NVQ/HND in Laboratory Skills).

  • Experience: Prior experience as a Science Technician in a secondary school college or commercial laboratory setting.

  • Knowledge: Sound working knowledge of COSHH CLEAPSS and laboratory safety regulations.

  • Attributes: Strong organisational skills high attention to detail proactive attitude and the ability to work independently.

  • Compliance: Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to process one).
