You will support practical activities across Biology Chemistry and Physics working with teaching staff to prepare demonstrations experiments and investigations appropriate to different age groups. • Prepare equipment chemicals apparatus and resources for practical science lessons

• Set up and clear laboratories before and after practical activities

• Support teachers with demonstrations experiments and investigations

• Ensure laboratory equipment is stored safely and appropriately

• Maintain clean organised and well-presented preparation areas

• Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering science resources

• Carry out routine checks and basic maintenance of equipment

• Follow appropriate health and safety procedures when handling chemicals and equipment

• Assist with the safe storage and disposal of laboratory materials

• Report damaged or faulty equipment promptly

• Maintain accurate records of resources and equipment where required

• Support the wider Science Department with practical and technical requirements

• Help ensure laboratories are consistently ready for teaching

The successful Science Technician will ideally have:

• Previous experience in a laboratory school scientific or technical environment

• A good understanding of laboratory health and safety

• Strong organisational and time-management skills

• Practical experience handling scientific equipment and resources

• Excellent attention to detail

• The ability to follow procedures carefully and consistently

• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with teachers

• A proactive and dependable approach to work

• The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a wider team

Experience supporting practical lessons within Biology Chemistry or Physics would be advantageous. Knowledge of COSHH procedures chemical handling equipment maintenance or laboratory stock management would also be beneficial.
