Role Overview

A high-achieving well-resourced secondary school in Barnet is seeking a meticulous and proactive Science Technician to join their thriving Science Department ASAP. Supporting practical teaching across Key Stages 3 to 5 you will play a vital role in setting up laboratory equipment managing practical resources maintaining safety standards and providing technical support during experiments in Biology Chemistry and Physics.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare set up and clear away equipment chemicals and specimens required for practical lessons and examinations across KS3KS5.

• Maintain laboratory equipment and teaching spaces to ensure a safe clean and well-organized environment.

• Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations including CLEAPSS guidelines risk assessments and COSHH standards.

• Manage inventory order stock and keep accurate records of chemicals apparatus and equipment.

• Assist teaching staff during practical demonstrations and provide direct technical guidance during lessons where appropriate.

Key Requirements

• Qualification: Qualification Institution Dates (e.g. Degree/HNC in a Science discipline or relevant Technical Certificate Awarding Institution Year)

• Strong background or educational background in Science (Biology Chemistry or Physics).

• Previous experience working as a school Science Technician or in a laboratory environment (desirable).

• Knowledge of CLEAPSS COSHH and general school laboratory health and safety protocols.

• Excellent organizational skills attention to detail and ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

• Legal right to work in the UK.
