Science Teacher – Secondary School in Buckingham (January Start)

A high-performing secondary school in Buckingham is seeking an inspiring Science Teacher to join its dedicated STEM faculty on a full-time permanent basis starting in January.

Job Overview

Science plays a central role in this schools academic curriculum and co-curricular offerings. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Combined and Separate Sciences) with opportunities to deliver Key Stage 5 A-Level Biology Chemistry or Physics depending on your specialist background.

Working closely with a collaborative STEM team and experienced laboratory technicians you will guide pupils through safe scientific experimentation data analysis and exam preparation while fostering a curiosity about the natural world. This is a full-time permanent contract.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach engaging practical and theoretical Science lessons across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5

• Plan and deliver well-structured practical laboratory experiments in full compliance with CLEAPSS health and safety standards

• Prepare pupils for GCSE and A-Level required practical assessments data analysis tasks and written examinations

• Maintain classroom spaces scientific equipment and laboratory inventories safely alongside department technicians

• Assess track and report on student progress using formal assessments mock examinations and classwork

• Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor supporting student wellbeing academic progress and personal development

Candidate Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or recognized UK teaching credentials (PGCE / SCITT)

• Honors degree in Biology Chemistry Physics or a closely related scientific discipline

• Proven track record (or strong potential during training) for delivering positive outcomes at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4

• Strong practical laboratory skills and up-to-date knowledge of CLEAPSS laboratory safety guidelines

• An active enhanced DBS check on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
