A highly regarded secondary school in Chelmsford Essex is looking to appoint an enthusiastic and dedicated Science Teacher to join its Science department from September.

This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Science and wants to work in a school where students are encouraged to be curious ambitious and independent learners.

The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Depending on experience and subject specialism there may also be opportunities to teach individual Science disciplines at GCSE level.

• Teach engaging and challenging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.

• Deliver lessons in line with the schools curriculum and departmental schemes of work.

• Prepare students for GCSE Science examinations.

• Develop students understanding of scientific concepts through practical and theoretical activities.

• Plan appropriate differentiated activities for students of different abilities.

• Monitor student progress through assessment and feedback.

• Identify students requiring additional support and contribute to intervention strategies.

• Establish positive relationships with pupils and maintain high expectations of behaviour.

• Maintain a safe and inclusive classroom and laboratory environment.

• Work collaboratively with Science colleagues to develop resources and teaching strategies.

• Participate in departmental meetings and wider school activities.

• Support the schools safeguarding and pastoral procedures.

• A recognised teaching qualification such as QTS PGCE or equivalent.

• Ability to teach Science at KS3 and KS4.

• Strong subject knowledge in Science.

• A genuine enthusiasm for Science education.

• Good classroom management and communication skills.

• Ability to differentiate teaching to meet individual student needs.

• Experience in a secondary school environment is desirable but not essential.

• ECTs are welcome to apply.

• Overseas-trained teachers with recognised qualifications are also encouraged to apply.
