Science Teaching Role in an Independent School

An independent school in Nottingham is seeking to appoint a Science Teacher to join its department from September. This is a full-time role within a well-established school that values academic excellence scientific enquiry and high-quality teaching.

The Science department delivers a broad curriculum across Biology Chemistry and Physics with students encouraged to develop curiosity analytical thinking and investigative skills through engaging practical and theoretical learning.


About the Role

You will teach Science across Key Stage 3 Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5 delivering engaging lessons that develop students scientific understanding practical skills and analytical thinking.

The role includes both classroom teaching and practical laboratory work helping students build confidence in experimentation data analysis and scientific reasoning.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations supporting students in developing strong subject knowledge scientific literacy and exam confidence.

You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department while benefiting from smaller class sizes and strong pastoral support.


Key Responsibilities
  • Teach Science across KS3 KS4 and KS5

  • Deliver lessons across Biology Chemistry and Physics

  • Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations

  • Assess student work and provide clear constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments

  • Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge across Biology Chemistry or Physics

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Science

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
