Job Summary

A friendly and well-established primary school in Reading is looking to appoint a School Receptionist to join its support staff team on a full-time permanent basis from September 2026.

As the first point of contact for pupils parents and visitors the School Receptionist plays an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. The successful candidate will become a key member of the schools administration team helping to ensure the day-to-day running of the front office is efficient organised and supportive.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy rewarding environment.

The Role

Working closely with the School Business Manager and wider administration team the successful candidate will provide an efficient front-of-house service while supporting a range of administrative functions.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Welcoming visitors parents and contractors to the school

  • Managing incoming telephone calls emails and general enquiries

  • Maintaining visitor records and safeguarding procedures

  • Supporting pupil admissions and maintaining accurate records

  • Assisting with general administration filing and correspondence

  • Updating the schools management information system (MIS)

  • Ordering office supplies and supporting the smooth running of the reception area

  • Providing administrative support to senior leaders when required

The Successful Candidate

The school is seeking a friendly organised and professional individual with previous experience in a receptionist customer service or administrative role.

Excellent communication skills strong organisational ability and confidence using Microsoft Office are essential. Previous experience working within a school or knowledge of school MIS systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
