Job Summary
A well-regarded primary school in Bristol is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive School Caretaker to join its site team on a full-time permanent basis from September 2026.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who takes pride in maintaining safe clean and welcoming environments. The successful candidate will play an essential role in ensuring the school remains a secure and well-maintained place where pupils and staff can thrive.
Working closely with the School Business Manager and leadership team youll oversee the day-to-day upkeep of the site carrying out planned maintenance responding to repairs and ensuring the school continues to meet high standards of health and safety.
The School Caretaker will take responsibility for the daily operation and presentation of the school site.
Responsibilities include:
Opening and securing the school each day
Carrying out general maintenance repairs and decorating
Undertaking basic plumbing carpentry and minor electrical repairs where appropriate
Maintaining the school grounds to a high standard
Conducting routine health and safety checks and reporting any issues
Liaising with contractors and overseeing work carried out on site
Setting up rooms and equipment for assemblies events and school activities
Supporting compliance with health and safety and site security procedures

The school is seeking a practical and dependable individual with previous experience in caretaking facilities management maintenance or a similar role.
The successful candidate will have excellent problem-solving skills be able to work independently and take pride in maintaining high standards across the school site. Knowledge of health and safety procedures and experience working with contractors would be advantageous.
