The School Caretaker will be responsible for maintaining the schools buildings grounds and facilities ensuring that the site remains safe secure and suitable for daily educational activities. Duties will include general repairs routine inspections assisting with deliveries maintaining outdoor areas and supporting the opening and closing of the premises as required.

The successful candidate will work closely with school staff and management to ensure that maintenance issues are identified and addressed promptly. They will need to demonstrate good organisational skills practical problem-solving abilities and a flexible approach to supporting the wider school community.

• Opening and securing the school premises at designated times.

• Carrying out routine inspections of buildings grounds and external areas.

• Completing general maintenance and minor repairs including basic plumbing carpentry and decorating where appropriate.

• Identifying maintenance issues and reporting larger repairs requiring specialist contractors.

• Ensuring classrooms corridors entrances and communal areas remain safe and accessible.

• Maintaining outdoor spaces pathways playgrounds and other external areas.

• Monitoring site security and reporting any concerns or damage.

• Assisting with the safe receipt movement and storage of deliveries and supplies.

• Supporting the preparation of rooms and facilities for school activities and events.

• Conducting basic health and safety checks and reporting hazards promptly.

• Ensuring tools equipment and maintenance materials are stored safely.

• Liaising with contractors and assisting with access to the premises when required.

• Supporting waste management and keeping the site tidy and presentable.

• Previous experience in caretaking school premises management facilities support building maintenance or a similar practical role.

• Ability to identify maintenance issues and take appropriate action.

• Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise daily tasks.
