The successful Safeguarding Lead will work closely with senior leadership pastoral staff parents carers and external agencies where appropriate.

Safeguarding Lead Role

The school is seeking an experienced Safeguarding Lead to coordinate safeguarding and child protection procedures across the school.

The successful candidate will act as a key point of contact for safeguarding concerns and will ensure that information is recorded managed and escalated appropriately.

You will provide guidance to staff maintain confidential records and work with relevant professionals where further support or intervention is required.

The role requires excellent organisation communication and professional judgement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate safeguarding procedures across the school.

  • Act as a central point of contact for safeguarding concerns.

  • Receive and assess safeguarding information.

  • Ensure concerns are recorded accurately.

  • Maintain secure and confidential safeguarding records.

  • Provide advice and guidance to teaching and support staff.

  • Ensure staff understand their safeguarding responsibilities.

  • Work closely with the Headteacher and senior leadership.

  • Liaise with parents and carers where appropriate.

  • Make referrals to external agencies when required.

  • Work with social care and relevant professionals.

  • Monitor ongoing safeguarding cases.

  • Ensure appropriate follow-up takes place.

  • Coordinate safeguarding training and updates.

  • Maintain records of staff safeguarding training.

  • Support safeguarding induction for new staff.

  • Contribute to safeguarding policy reviews.

  • Support safer recruitment processes where required.

  • Work closely with pastoral and welfare teams.

  • Monitor attendance and behaviour concerns with safeguarding implications.

  • Prepare safeguarding information for meetings and reviews.

  • Support safeguarding inspections and compliance requirements.

  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture.

  • Maintain strict confidentiality.

  • Ensure school safeguarding procedures are followed consistently.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will have significant safeguarding or child protection experience ideally within a school or educational setting.

You should have strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures and be confident responding to sensitive situations.

Excellent communication skills are essential because you will work with students staff parents senior leaders and external agencies.

You must be highly organised and able to maintain accurate records while managing several safeguarding matters.

Requirements
  • Previous safeguarding or child protection experience.

  • Experience working within a school or education setting.

  • Relevant DSL training.

  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding procedures.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Strong organisational and record-keeping abilities.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
