Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Technical Development Intern to join our Ready-to-Wear Atelier team for a 12-month contract. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in garment construction manufacturing processes technical development and production training within a luxury manufacturing is a paid internship with rate of pay starting from 13.45 dependent on experience. You will be working 38 hours per week Monday to Thursday 7am - 4pm and Friday 7am - of the RoleThe Technical Development Intern will support the development of technical standards and garment construction processes across the Ready-to-Wear Atelier. Working closely with the RTW Technical Development & Training Specialist the successful candidate will gain valuable insight into luxury garment manufacturing while contributing to sewing instruction creation and training ResponsibilitiesCreate document and maintain sewing instructions and technical guides using computer-based systems and software for production garment construction and technical development activities focusing on manufacturing methods and production the RTW Technical Development & Training Specialist with day-to-day technical and training to the creation and maintenance of training materials sewing standards and best practice the delivery of training and upskilling initiatives for production and participate in product development activities providing technical support where collaboratively with production teams to promote consistency quality and efficiency in garment with monitoring and reviewing manufacturing processes identifying opportunities for continuous quality-focused initiatives by helping to ensure adherence to established construction Skills & ExperienceEssentialCurrently studying or recently graduated in Fashion Technology Garment Technology Textile Manufacturing Apparel Production or a related interest in garment construction sewing techniques and apparel attention to detail and a commitment to organisational and time management written and verbal communication to work collaboratively with a range of colleagues across technical and production proactive and eager to knowledge of garment construction methods and industrial sewing using Microsoft Office of technical specification documentation or manufacturing work experience gained through education placements or practical sewing UsFounded in 1797 Johnstons of Elgin is an innovative luxury clothing brand celebrating 225 years of experience in working with the worlds finest fibres.
