Retail Design Manager Tétris London

The Role

The Retail Design Manager is responsible for leading the design development and delivery of retail projects across a diverse portfolio of brands and clients. Working closely with the Retail team clients and wider Tetris businesswith some input to workplace environments as & when needed the Retail Design Manager will translate brand requirements and commercial objectives into compelling functional and deliverable retail environments. The role will lead projects from concept development through design development and technical coordination ensuring that designs meet brand standards operational requirements programme and budget. Working within a Design & Build environment the Retail Design Manager will collaborate closely with project management commercial technical procurement and construction teams to ensure design intent is successfully delivered on site.

This role will report into the Tetris RetailTechnical Design Manager

KNOWLEDGE

  • Strong knowledge of retail interior design including customer experience brand environments spatial planning and store design.
  • Understanding of the relationship between brand identity customer journey commercial objectives and retail design.
  • Good knowledge of retail design development fromcreative concept & story tellingthrough to technical and construction stages.
  • Understanding of Design & Build delivery and the relationship between design cost programme and construction.
  • Knowledge of retail fixtures joinery finishes materials lighting and specialist retail elements.
  • Understanding of retail operational requirements including customer flow merchandising back-of-house requirements accessibility and servicing.
  • Good understanding of UK Building Regulations relevant standards and statutory requirements affecting retail environments.
  • Understanding of procurement manufacturing and construction processes and their impact on design solutions.
  • Knowledge of design coordination and the requirements of producing comprehensive design development and construction information.
  • Understanding of working within client brand guidelines while developing solutions appropriate to individual sites and commercial requirements.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience delivering retail interior design projects within a design consultancy Design & Build contractor or similar environment.
  • Experience working across multiple retail brands and project types adapting design solutions to different client requirements and brand identities.
  • Experience leading projects fromcreative concept & story tellingthrough design development and delivery.
  • Experience working directly with clients and managing design approvals and sign-off processes.
  • Experience coordinating with project managers technical teams commercial teams contractors suppliers and specialist consultants.
  • Experience developing design packages suitable for costing procurement and construction.
  • Experience working within project budgets and programmes with an understanding of the commercial implications of design decisions.
  • Experience reviewing prototypes samples mock-ups shop drawings and technical information where required.
  • Experience undertaking site visits and working with construction teams to resolve design issues and maintain design intent during delivery.
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously prioritising workload and meeting deadlines.

SKILLS

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong coordination skills.
  • Ability to balance creativity functionality cost programme and buildability when developing design solutions.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills with confidence working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage the design approval process and proactively identify and resolve design issues.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain design quality through to delivery.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with Design Technical Commercial and Construction teams.
  • Proficient in relevant design software including Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proactive approach to problem solving with the ability to identify challenges and develop practical commercially viable solutions.
  • Strong understanding of materials finishes fixtures and retail detailing.
  • Ability to work confidently& flexiblyin a fast-paced Design & Build environment and respond effectively to changing client requirementsoffering alternative solutions where appropriate.
