Residential Support Worker

Salary:up to 28099 per annum

Location:Rushden Northamptonshire

Contract/Hours:Permanent/Full Time 37 hours per week.

Residential Support Worker The Squirrels (Action for Children)

As a Residential Support Worker youll deliver high-quality person-centered care for children with learning disabilities physical disabilities and complex health needs in a warm nurturing respite setting.

Youll support daily routines personal development and independence while building trusted relationships and promoting emotional well-being. Working as part of a dedicated team youll follow individual care plans contribute to a safe environment and may support children with clinical needs such as assisted feeding or other dedicated healthcare tasks following training. Safeguarding teamwork and a child-centered approach are at the heart of everything we do.

How youll help to create brighter futures

  • Provide lead case/care planning management including assessing reviewing and managing risk.
  • Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service with multi agency and producing family information including analysis and written reports.
  • Attendance at professional meetings including reviews court work etc.
  • Lead shifts with the primary aim of the provision of a high-quality service.
  • Supervise and guide staff as required in accordance with Action for Children policies and procedures.
  • Lead by example with the application of Action for Childrens policy procedures and professional practice standards and in line with registration requirements.
  • Build and maintain relationships (within agreed professional boundaries) with children young people and their families through the provision of emotional social and practical interventions and support.
  • Ensure that the views and needs of children/young people are heard and responded to by promoting communication and participation.

Lets talk about you.

  • Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge We are looking for someone with a can do attitude to join our team. Ideally you will have:
  • Experience of leading Shifts in a Care setting
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or recognised equivalent)
  • Experience and training in safeguarding.
  • An innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
  • Experience of developing tailored care plans
  • The ability to create a safe and fun environment for both staff and children in the home and in the community.

About the Service

The Squirrels is a warm welcoming respite service for children with learning and physical disabilitiesand complex health needs offering our children a true home-from-home environment. We offer overnight short breaks for up to 4 children at a time ensuring every child receives highly personalised care in a calm nurturing environment.

Our comfortable homely setting is centred around a large communal living and dining area creating a relaxed and inclusive space where children can feel safe supported and cared for. With an exceptional nursing and care team at the heart of the service The Squirrels is a place where compassion dignity and high-quality care part of everything we do.
