Research Associate III Translational Biology

The Center for the Development of Therapeutics (CDoT) partners with faculty at MIT Harvard and affiliated hospitals to translate groundbreaking biological insights into innovative therapeutic strategies. We combine novel technologies with rigorous industry-standard drug discovery approaches to tackle challenging targets across a wide range of disease areas.

Were looking for a passionate and skilled Cell Biologist to join our CDoT Cell Biology team. Reporting to a research scientist youll be a key member of our multidisciplinary teams helping to drive the development and execution of novel cell-based assays. Your work will directly empower target validation hit discovery and lead optimization including assessing target engagement and mechanism of action. You will also participate in state-of-the-art High Content Imaging projects in collaboration with multiple academic groups at the Broad Institute as well as with industrial partners to discover phenotyping features of cells thus decoding complicated cell programs related to cell health and disease. We currently are building anwill also Optical Pooled Screening (OPS) platform which is taking advantage of most modern sequencing techniques to get information about genetic perturbations in each cell under the microscope and relate this perturbation to phenotypic fingerprints

Key Responsibilities

• Design and execute cell-based assays for drug discovery including target validation and lead optimization.
• Culture and maintain diverse cell lines and primary cells with a high degree of precision.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to advance therapeutic projects and ensure that research plans timelines and deliverables are met.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data presenting research plans and results to both internal teams and external collaborators.
• Innovate new cellular assay methods and contribute to a fast-paced dynamic research environment.
• Produce and interpret complicated data sets with single-cell image analysis for chemical and genetic perturbation
• Work together with the automation team to ensure smooth high-throughput screening protocols which involve the use of complicated plate handling imaging equipment and robotics.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree with 5 years of relevant experience or a Masters degree with 3 years of experience in cell biology chemical biology or a related scientific field.
• Demonstrated experience in culturing deriving and maintaining various cell lines.
• Proven ability to work both collaboratively within a team and independently to meet project goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with plate-based assays and high-throughput screening.
• Willingness to work with complex automation systems.
• Familiarity with advanced techniques such as high-content imaging microscopy or molecular biology (e.g. PCR western blotting ELISA).
