Job Summary

  • Full-time (1 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 3 years
  • Base salary range: Level A $83499 $112371 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The UWA School of Engineering is internationally recognised for its award-winning teaching research excellence and world-class facilities. It delivers multidisciplinary education and research across civil environmental mining mechanical electrical and chemical engineering.

This role sits within the Fluid Science and Resources Research (FSRR) Group a leading research group working across the oil and gas fluids and energy sectors with a strong focus on thermodynamics transport processes and separations science.

About the opportunity

  • Reporting to a Professor you will contribute to cutting-edge research in chemical engineering.
  • Conduct experimental and modelling research in chemical engineering focused on separations and thermodynamics including laboratory work and data analysis.
  • Develop and analyse experimental programs and use the results to improve thermodynamic models and simulations.
  • Contribute to publications presentations collaborations student supervision and broader academic and service activities.

About you

  • PhD in Chemical Engineering or a closely related field or equivalent qualifications and experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to participating in high-quality research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles published in respected scholarly journals relevant to the opportunity.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to plan your own work manage competing priorities and meet agreed deadlines within established research programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels with evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles.
  • Experience assisting with the design and commissioning of gas separation and thermodynamic property measurement apparatus.
  • Experience with high-quality measurements of gas separation and fluid mixture properties under extreme conditions (high pressure and low temperature).
  • Experience in thermodynamic model tuning and development and in comparing models with experimental data.
