Candidates should have a proven ability to develop sourcing and bring in scoops. Were looking for someone who is calm under pressure in an exciting and competitive beat. Youll need to know the biggest players in the dealmaking world with a wide network of contacts among the investment bankers lawyers private equity investors government regulators and outside advisers that work on transactions. Well depend on you to generate scoops and write stories about why they matter all the while collaborating with colleagues across the world. Youll also be expected to write longer-form stories on the City of London and the deals community.
Youll need to prioritise accuracy and attention to detail and have the ability to quickly expand your contact base as you seek to beat rivals to scoops. You should be a newshound by nature who thrives in high-profile beat. Knowledge of financial markets is essential as is the ability to handle sensitive information with confidential sources.
