Job Summary

We are working closely alongside a Local Authority in North Yorkshireto assist with the appointment of a Refuse Driver on a 1-month contract highly likely to be extended at clients discretion. Please apply with your CV for immediate consideration.

Rate of Pay: 17.35 - 21.83 per hour

Summary:

A Refuse Driver is required to operate HGV refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently supporting the collection and transportation of household and commercial waste. The role involves driving the vehicle carrying out routine safety checks and working closely with the refuse collection team to ensure an effective and reliable waste collection service.

Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate HGV refuse collection vehicles in accordance with relevant legislation and Council procedures.
  • Carry out daily vehicle safety and maintenance checks.
  • Drive assigned routes and ensure refuse collections are completed efficiently.
  • Work alongside refuse collection operatives during waste collection activities.
  • Operate vehicle controls and waste collection equipment safely.

Essentials:

  • Valid HGV driving licence with the appropriate vehicle entitlement.
  • Valid Driver CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
  • Previous experience driving HGV vehicles is essential.
  • Experience of operating refuse collection vehicles is desirable.
  • Good knowledge of road safety and HGV driving regulations.
  • Ability to carry out vehicle safety checks and identify defects.
