R&D Tax Manager
Location: Manchester
Salary: Competitive 40-55k per annum
Experience: R&D tax experience within UK practice with strong client-facing delivery
The Role
We are recruiting for an R&D Tax Manager opportunity based in Manchester supporting a varied client base with R&D tax relief claims and related advisory work.
This role suits someone who enjoys combining technical work with client communication taking ownership of projects from initial scoping through to submission and supporting the development of junior team members.
What you will be doing
Managing and delivering R&D tax relief claims for a portfolio of clients
Leading client meetings to gather information understand projects and identify qualifying activities and costs
Reviewing technical narratives and financial calculations to ensure accuracy and compliance
Liaising with HMRC where required and supporting clients through queries
Working closely with wider tax and accounts teams to ensure a smooth end-to-end process
Advising clients on record-keeping and best practice to support future claims
Coaching and supporting junior team members reviewing work and providing constructive feedback
Contributing to process improvement and consistent quality across the service line
What we are looking for
Strong R&D tax experience within UK practice (or a specialist consultancy environment)
Confident client-facing skills and the ability to explain technical points clearly
Strong attention to detail and a quality-led approach
Comfortable managing multiple deadlines and prioritising workload
Good Excel skills and strong written communication
Relevant qualification (e.g. CTA ACA ACCA or ATT) is beneficial but strong experience is key
