Andrews Recruitment are one of the UKs leading Aggregate & Building Materials Recruitment partners and were recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways and infrastructure contracting business across Yorkshire Greater Manchester and the wider North West.

This is not just a role for someone who can produce a price. The successful Quantity Surveyor will understand the commercial operational and technical detail behind a scheme build competitive tenders and help present a solution that makes commercial sense to the customer.


The Role

As Quantity Surveyor youll take responsibility for pricing and tendering work from initial enquiry through to submission.

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Producing accurate and competitive estimates
  • Reviewing drawings specifications and tender information
  • Assessing commercial contractual operational and technical risk
  • Obtaining and reviewing supplier and subcontractor quotations
  • Building tender submissions around customer requirements
  • Supporting value-engineering and alternative solutions
  • Working closely with operational and commercial teams
  • Contributing to tender reviews and bid strategy
  • Reviewing completed tenders and identifying lessons learned
  • Ensuring tenders meet internal governance and commercial requirements

What Were Looking For

Were interested in people with genuine experience of estimating within highways surfacing civil engineering or infrastructure.


You should be able to demonstrate:

  • Previous estimating or tendering experience
  • Strong understanding of highways surfacing civils or infrastructure projects
  • Commercial awareness and confidence assessing risk
  • Ability to interpret technical and contractual information
  • Confidence working with operational and commercial stakeholders
  • Ability to work accurately to deadlines
  • Experience with NEC contracts highways frameworks or public-sector infrastructure work would be advantageous but is not essential.

Youll join an established estimating and commercial function working alongside senior Estimators Contracts teams and operational colleagues.
